Florida recorded a slight increase in residential real estate sales during the third quarter of 2026. The Capitolist reported data from Florida Realtors showing that sales for existing single-family homes rose by 0.2 percent year-over-year. Sales of condo-townhouse properties increased by 3.1 percent over the same period. [1]
The Q3 figures revealed tighter housing inventory compared to the prior year. Higher mortgage interest rates weighed on overall performance across the state during the quarter. Florida Realtors chief economist stated that interest rate increases earlier this year halted the modest sales growth seen over the previous 12 to 14 months. [1]
National housing data showed different trends in September 2026. Real Estate Investing Today reported that the National Association of Realtors recorded a 1.5 percent monthly increase in nationwide existing home sales to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 3.99 million units. Total national inventory grew 1.9 percent from August and 4.6 percent from one year prior to reach 1.60 million units, representing a 4.8-month supply. [3]
Florida occupies a peninsula in the southeastern region of the United States between the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. It is the third most populous state in the nation. [8]
