Gross profits for home flippers across the United States fell to their lowest level in years during the second quarter of 2026, according to the New York Post. [1]

Data from real estate firm ATTOM showed the typical flip generated $60,526 before expenses in the second quarter of 2026, the New York Post reported. That figure is down from $71,000 recorded in the same period a year earlier. [1]

The latest average figure represents a 21.5 percent return on the purchase price prior to expenditures such as renovations and closing costs, the New York Post reported. ATTOM calculated that the return stood at 27.6 percent one year prior. [1]

Upstate New York encompasses major cities including Albany, Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo. ATTOM Chief Executive Rob Barber stated that flippers remain profitable in most markets, but typical returns continue to narrow across the country, according to the New York Post. [1][2]
