Miami-Dade County retail construction reached 1.3 million square feet in the third quarter of 2026, Bisnow reported citing data from Colliers. The volume of new building double-counts the amount recorded during the same period last year and represents the highest level of activity since early 2023. [1]
Developers are expanding the construction pipeline as commercial rents hit record highs, according to Bisnow. A tight and steady vacancy rate continues to push rental rates upward despite a general slowing in market fundamentals. [1]
Colliers retail services Executive Vice President Sabrina Stimming told Bisnow that tenant demand continues to drive the market. Stimming stated that developer confidence remains elevated because incoming tenants are actively seeking space. [1]
Miami was co-founded by American industrialist Henry Flagler, who developed the Florida East Coast Railway and established major real estate projects along the Atlantic coast of Florida. [2]
In short
- Miami-Dade retail construction reached 1.3 million square feet in the third quarter.
- The construction volume is double the amount under development in the same period last year.
- Retail space under construction reached its highest level since early 2023.
