Major brokerages partner to launch Open Real Estate data sharing platform

Major brokerages have backed Open Real Estate, a new national listing platform and data sharing initiative designed to submit property listings directly to MLSs and portals.

Keller Williams, HomeServices of America, AGNT, and Real REMAX Group have sponsored the launch of Open Real Estate, a new listings platform. RealEstateNews.com, HousingWire, and Finance & Commerce reported that the national data sharing initiative allows real estate agents to submit listings for distribution to multiple listing services and property portals. HousingWire Agent reported that independent brokerages, including Samson Properties and Iron Valley, have signed on to the initiative as early participating brokerages. Donny Samson, chief executive and principal broker of Samson Properties, stated that the move addresses frustration over private listings in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia markets that are not fully visible to the public. RealEstateNews.com reported that Open Real Estate is open to all agents but will prohibit private listings. As FTMQ Real Estate reported earlier, real estate brokers have used private off market listings to prevent accumulating days on market and to hide public price adjustment histories, which appraisers warned limits comparable sales verification. According to HousingWire Agent, backers of Open Real Estate state that the initiative is not a national MLS. The platform is scheduled for launch in the first quarter of 2027. [3]
