Fair Isaac Corporation will freeze its wholesale mortgage score pricing under its Preferred Program at ten dollars per score for 2027, according to HousingWire and TIKR.com. HousingWire reported that analysts view the pricing decision as a defensive move designed to preserve transaction volumes as VantageScore increases market competition. [1][2]

HousingWire reported that Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte responded to the announcement on social media by stating the agency is taking further action to support real competition. Pulte added that abusive monopolies will not be permitted to take advantage of consumers in the mortgage market. [1]

FICO was founded in 1956 by Bill Fair and Earl Isaac and is based in Bozeman, Montana. Its credit score system serves as a standard measure of consumer credit risk in United States lending. [4]

According to TIKR.com, shares of FICO fell 16 percent following the announcement of its flat year over year pricing strategy. [2]
